Dana has 29 years of nuclear industry experience, including concentrated experience in Pressurized Water Reactor design and plant engineering, safety analysis, licensing, reactor fuel, containment thermal-hydraulics, and engineering programs.  Effective January 1, 2023, Dana was assigned to a newly-created role as Manager, Nuclear Engineering Fleet Programs and Components at Dominion Energy.  Dana’s department consists of more than 40 technical staff and supervisors responsible for regulatory programs, materials and inspections programs, non-destructive examinations, in-service inspection program, and large component expertise supporting Dominion Energy’s fleet of seven nuclear reactors.  Dana received a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics from the University of Wisconsin in December 1993, a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in December 2007, and a Virginia Professional Engineer license in 2001.

Secretary: Brooke Bates

Brooke Bates has held the position of secretary for the Virginia Section of ANS since 2018 and is running again for the 2023-2024 year. Brooke is a 2018 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a position at Dominion Energy in Probabilistic Risk Assessment. As a student, she served as the Vice-President for the VCU-ANS section and has also been an active member of VA-ANS, and National ANS. Brooke also holds a chair position for Dominion Energy’s Innsbrook chapter of North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) and is an active member of Woman in Nuclear (WIN). Brooke is an advocate for nuclear science and technologies and helps by volunteering her time to public outreach and education events.

Member at Large 2023-2026: Pamela Reed; Sam Leach; Gennady Miloshevsky, PhD

Pam Reed is currently a Member-at-Large with VA-ANS and is running for the position again to continue providing an ANS presence in Central Virginia. Pam is an Engineering Supervisor for Neutronics in support of PWR Reload Licensing at Framatome. Previously she was a Mechanical Engineer at Framatome with component ownership of Guide Tubes and the W17 GAIA fuel design. Pam earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering at Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, and her MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit. She’s been working in the commercial power industry for 15 years and is also active in Framatome’s WIN chapter. Pam resides with her husband and 2 kids in Lynchburg, Virginia, and enjoys civic involvement and entrepreneurship.

Sam Leach is a Mechanical Engineer II for the PWR Mechanical Product Development at Framatome, with component ownership of numerous components including Guide Tubes, Spacer Grids, and Assembly Connections. This is his first time applying for a position within ANS, however he has significant experience within engineering societies through active engagement in Tau Beta Pi as well as being a founding member of VOLT, an energy focused student club at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte focusing on energy education. Prior to joining Framatome in February 2021,, Sam graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a BS in Mechanical Engineering with an Energy Concentration. While relatively new to the nuclear industry, Sam also has 4 years of experience in the energy industry through full time co-op experience with Duke Energy Fossil Hydro Operations (FHO) including data analysis, project manager responsibilities, and process engineer responsibilities within FHO outage services. Sam believes that he can provide the unique perspective of a early to mid-career engineer to the ANS committee and is passionate about spreading the education of nuclear energy as well as providing unprivileged youth the resources needed to succeed as they enter early adulthood. Sam currently lives in Lynchburg, Virginia with his wife and enjoys the outdoors and community involvement.

Gennady Miloshevsky, PhD received his MS in physics in 1990 from Belarus State University in Minsk. In 1998, he completed his Ph.D. in physics from the Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Gennady Miloshevsky, PhD training was in the fields of physics, mathematics and computer science with specializations in atomic, molecular and plasma physics. He participated in many national and international research projects in collaborations with scientists in Russia, Europe and Israel. In 2000, he joined Brandeis University in Boston as Postdoctoral Fellow (2000-2002) and Research Associate (2002-2008) in the Department of Chemistry. He focused on the development of new computational approaches for treating large protein systems, with the goal of predicting such proteins’ detailed function from knowledge of their structure. In 2008, Gennady Miloshevsky, PhD joined School of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University, as Research Scientist (2008-2009), Research Assistant Professor (2009-2013), Research Associate Professor (2013-2015), and Associate Professor (2015-2018). Since 2019, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. Gennady Miloshevsky, PhD had the opportunity to work on many multidisciplinary research projects both in laboratory and academia environments. His research area of expertise is Computational Physics with emphasis on the effects of plasma, laser and particle beams on materials, shielding of space radiation, fission SNM sources, atomic and plasma physics, warm dense matter, dusty plasmas, Computational Fluid Dynamics, two-fluid liquid metal-plasma flows, Molecular Dynamics, Monte Carlo, Hartree-Fock and DFT methods, permeation and gating of protein channels and transporters, biophysics of lipid bilayers and membranes.
