OFFICERS

Michelle Manley.

SECTION CHAIR

Dr. Michelle Manley serves as the director for corporate services with G.D. Barri & Associates. She acquired a wealth of diverse experience and knowledge from 17 years in higher education at a major university in South Florida. Currently Michelle works closely with G.D. Barri contractors assign to the Palo Verde Generating Station. Dr. Manley received her B.S. degree in legal studies, master’s degree in conflict resolution and analysis and doctorate in marriage and family therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Although new to Arizona and ANS Michelle is excited by the field and hopes to expand her understandings and seeks to support the recruitment and development of the next generation of nuclear professionals.

Brad Berles.

VICE CHAIR

Brad is currently the General Manager of Water Resources at the Palo Verde Generating Station in Arizona.  He has spent the last 15 years of his career at Palo Verde, with the prior 14 years at the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Michigan.  During that time, he has primarily been involved with Engineering (systems and fuels) and Operations (Senior Reactor Operator at Palisades), until recently focusing on the long-term water strategy for Palo Verde.  Brad holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Western Michigan University.  He has been an ANS member since his undergraduate studies.

Alice Granado.

TREASURER

Alice holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in applied human behavior from NAU. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership with a specialization in project management, also from NAU. With a fifteen-year tenure in real estate, Alice served as a Broker/Owner, overseeing two offices with divisions in apartment locating, residential sales, property management, and bank-owned properties. She currently serves as Business Development Manager for GD Barri & Associates, Inc, focusing on sales, marketing initiatives, and recruitment efforts. She also manages a nuclear site located in Burlington, Kansas. Alice enjoys various hobbies such as hiking, reading, weightlifting, and exploring new destinations through her travels.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

John Kelly.

Dr. John E. Kelly is Past President of the American Nuclear Society. Immediately prior to that, he was the Chief Technology Officer for Nuclear Energy at DOE where he was responsible for establishing the strategic technical direction for the entire civilian nuclear energy R&D program. He had served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Reactor Technologies where he was responsible for programs on Small Modular Reactors, Light Water Reactors, Generation IV reactors, and nuclear power systems for space exploration. Internationally, he chaired the Generation IV International Forum and the IAEA Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy. Before DOE, he spent 30 years at Sandia National Laboratories engaged in a broad spectrum of research programs in nuclear reactor safety, advanced nuclear energy technology, and national security. Dr. Kelly received his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Michigan in 1976 and his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1980.

Kenneth W. Fox.

BS Engineering Worcester Polytechnic Institute. MBA Univ of Hartford. Worked on the nuclear supply side for I&C vendor -Foxboro. Worked multiple utilities and plants including Millstone, Connecticut Yankee, and Seabrook. INPO/WANO Evaluation Team Member to Bruce and Pt. Lepreau. Contract Engineer for TVA on Watts Bar 2 Start-Up. Currently employed APS Palo Verde Senior I&C Engineer.
Member ANS since approx 1988. Numerous positions in the Connecticut Section including Millstone Plant Branch Chair. Numerous positions in Northeastern Section including Treasurer and Executive Board. Student Program Chair National ANS meeting 2007. Looking forward to interesting meetings and speakers in the revitalized AZ Section.

Steve Manson.

Dr. Manson is an Engineering Fellow in the Effectors Center of Raytheon Missiles and Defense. He works in various facets of nuclear survivability of interceptor and satellite systems at RMD. He has been primarily involved with the development of automated methods of enabling high fidelity Monte Carlo radiation transport analysis of complex engineered systems. He has received three patents for this work since January, 2008. Dr. Manson earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999, where his dissertation work concerned thermal hydraulic analysis of nuclear accident scenarios involving the Pantex plant. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and has been a member of the American Nuclear Society since 1987.
