Outreach

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science

The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) is a program that encourages high school students to explore interests in science and mathematics through the pursuit of research projects. The Pittsburgh Local Section provides special awards to the PJAS Region 7 competition, each February. Three awards of $100 are given to students whose presentations are related to nuclear science, nuclear technology, or an energy-related topic.

Student/Teacher Outreach Programs

The Pittsburgh ANS hosts discussions and demonstrations for students in area classrooms. We also provide continuing education for teachers through workshops and informal meetings. Topics may include instruction in radiation detection and in applications of nuclear technology and engineering.
