The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is a not-for-profit, international, scientific and educational organization. ANS was established by a group of individuals who recognized the need to unify the professional activities within the diverse fields of nuclear science and technology. ANS is committed to lead in the development, dissemination, and application of nuclear science and technology to benefit humanity.
The Michigan-Ohio Section of the American Nuclear Society (MI-ANS) was chartered in 1954. We are an active local section of the ANS. The MI-ANS typically meets once a month September through April, except during the Christmas holidays. We annually sponsor a "Student Works" meeting that features students from the University of Michigan presenting current research to local professionals.
The MI-ANS primarily provides a forum for scientific and technical exchange concerning the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology. We sponsor a variety of public information and education activities throughout the year going to schools and community groups. We encourage any interested professional, educator, or other member of the public to attend our regular meetings.
