Westinghouse San Jose opened in March 2008. The office opened as the Westinghouse Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) office to support Toshiba in the licensing for two new Advanced Boiling Water Reactors (ABWRs) at the South Texas Nuclear Site in Bay City, TX. Along with Licensing, the San Jose office supports Radiation Analysis, In-Vessel Modifications, Structural Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, Instrumentation and Control and Setpoint Uncertainties. Following the post-Fukushima slowdown of the South Texas Project, the office continues to focus on BWR projects for operating plants, specifically in the area of Steam Dryers. The San Jose office also supports operating Pressurized Water Reactors such as Diablo Canyon as well as Westinghouse’s new reactor design, the AP1000 plant. Mr. Bakshi has more than 17 years of experience in the nuclear industry, including 11 years with General Electric. He has worked in the areas of I&C, setpoint uncertainties, and Advanced Boiling Water Reactors.
